Taxonomy Notes
In order to communicate scientist classify animals.
In order to communicate scientist classify animals.
- Taxonomy developed Carolus Linnaeus who used Greek and Latin names.
- Kingdoms are places where all organisms fall into a few large groups.
- These groups are :
- Kingdom
- Phylum
- Class
- Order
- Family
- Genus
- Species
The 6 kingdoms are:
- Fungae
- Animalia
- Plantae
- Protista
- Bacteria
Some history of their families:- kingdom~Animalia
- Phylum~ Chordata
- Class~Mammalia
- Order~Carnivora
- Family~Felidae
- Genus~Panthera
- Species~Panthera Pardus
- Binomial Nomenclature , means it is a 2 name system.
- The genus is always capitalized, the species is lowercase.
- Scientific names must either be underlined or italicized.
- Species~Organisms that can interbread with one another, and produce offspring.
- When 2 organisms of different species interbreed, the offspring is called hybrid.
- Kingdoms are classified by:
- -the number of cells (unicellular or multicellular)
- -How it obtains energy (heterotroph or autotroph)
- -type of cell (eukaryothic and Prokaryotes)
Now let me tell you some interesting facts about each one of the 6 kingdoms:
Animalia
Animalia
- It is Multicellular , it's a Heterotrohic cellularbody and most of them can move.
Plantae:
It is Multicellular , it's a Autotrohic cellular body and most of them cannot move.
It is Multicellular , it's a Autotrohic cellular body and most of them cannot move.
Fungae
It is a Multicellular body , it's a Heterotrophic cells body and its Eukaryotic, which means their cells are more complex and have a nucleus.

Protista
It is a Unicellular body , it have Heterotrophic and Autotrophic cells body, and its Eukaryothic, which means their cellls are more complex and have a nucleus. Most of them live in water.

Bacteria:
It is a Unicellular body , it have Autotrophic and Heterotrophic cells and it counts with Prokaryotes , which means more simple cells compared to Eukaryothic cells.
